Rest Day in Scheveningen, September 14, 2016

It was another very warm day here. There are thousands of people on the beaches and it is hard to fathom  how they can stand sitting in that hot sun all day. We decided to go for a swim this afternoon, in the sea, and made our way through the throngs to the water's edge. The water is brown and there are lots of jelly fish swimming around. Creepy! However, it felt refreshing. We walked through the water up and down a few sandbars and I totally remember this from my childhood on our holidays at Wyk aan Zee.
We woke up this morning at 9 am and went for a leisurely breakfast. It was already heating up fast outside so off we went to the famous pier and decided on a Ferris wheel ride. This was a very good choice because cold air from the air conditioning in the completely enclosed cable car was blowing on our faces during the whole ride. If we stayed here another day we would probably consider doing a bungy jump tomorrow. NOT!
We got a bit of cash and bought a few krente bolletjes for our journey tomorrow. One more day of heat is predicted so we have already decided to lop off a section of our route. We will bypass the section that would take us through The Hague. Too bad but we have to adapt to the current conditions.
So far so good. We don't feel any ill effects from yesterday's desert march.
It is interesting here in Scheveningen but one day is enough. The scene here today would do a "Where's Waldo" book proud!
