We are on quite a hill so anytime we want to go somewhere it is down and then up again. We did this a few times already today and I'm sure we are not done. Down we went, after breakfast, to look for a small church where my dad preached during his vacation, in the late '40's and early '50's, to help pay for our holiday stay here in Wyk aan Zee. My brother, Pete, had sent me a pic of it and we found it. It is now someone's studio. It was along the side of the very large open field in the middle of town, a unique feature of this place.
We went for a lovely lunch of tomato soup and sat behind the typical glass panels, on the beach. However, there was not the usual wind. We have had none of that since we arrived. We had some mint tea, made with fresh leaves, with our lunch. Very good. Tonight we are going back to this place on the beach because they are famous for serving mussels from Zeeland!
I am including some pics of my cousin and his wife today from when we visited them two days ago.

Nice to have a rest day again...seeing those pictures of Pete and Liddy makes me want to meet them as well...you guys are looking good...relaxed and fit....
ReplyDeleteFun to see that little church..nice that you have memories of your life in Holland...for me it is just the stories told... I have memories of...still like it though ,that I can say I was born in Holland...strange about the veggies....maybe Dutch people don't want to be offered veggies in a restaurant because they get them all the time at home....
Hi Chris, I recognized the little church, and recall that in behind it we used to pick blackberries! Nice to see that you followed the stern warning on the blue sign! Enjoy your day tomorrow.
