We weren't on the beach much today but often in sight of the sea. We are sitting on a quiet patio right now, enjoying some water, beer and wine. However, the beach in front of us is still covered with people. There is definitely a party atmosphere.
The hottest moments were in the dunes when we navigated the soft sandy paths with no breeze whatsoever and lost our way, briefly, because a sign post had fallen down. Our Sahara moments! Very soon a kind young man appeared and told us which way to go. Dutch people are nice. Where we had lunch they filled our water bottles with ice and water.
Signage is very good except this morning when we tried to get out of Monster. That proved to be a monster with no signage at all and I was forced to read the written directions which are in Dutch.
We are actually looking forward to some cool, rainy weather so that we can walk a bit faster. Today took six hours to cover about 20 km. But we have learned in the past that it does not matter if you go slow as long as you keep moving. You will get there, eventually.
We are looking forward to a rest day here tomorrow and may explore the big pier that we are looking at right now.

I can relate to walking in the hot weather. Not sure if I would wish for rain though. Love your pictures. Enjoy your rest day!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, you have surely earned that beer after slogging through soft sand on a hot day! Enjoy your rest day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris and Jeff - that rest day tomorrow will go down nicely, too, after the hot slog so far....your picture of the path along the greenhouses reminds me of my childhood near Hoek Van Holland, and my parents' greenhouse business on the edge of a canal....loved playing in both :) Xoxx - Janette.
ReplyDeleteThat was just outside of Monster
